Born in 1969 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Dr. Mehriban Novruzova graduated from the Bulbul Specialized Music School in 1987. She was subsequently admitted to the Azerbaijan State University of Arts, where she graduated with honors in 1992, earning a degree in Art Studies with a specialization in the History and Theory of Fine Arts.

Dr. Novruzova began her career in 2003 as a lecturer at the Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts. In 2004, she was admitted to the doctoral program at the Institute of Architecture and Art of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS). Her dissertation, titled “Decorative Sculpture in the Architecture of Baku at the End of the 19th and Beginning of the 20th Century,” was officially approved by the ANAS Scientific and Coordination Councils.

In May 2007, she defended her dissertation and was awarded the degree of Candidate of Art Studies by the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on January 30, 2008 (Protocol No. 05).

Professional Appointments:

• 2009: Appointed as Senior Lecturer at the Department of Art History, Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts.
• 2010: Promoted to Associate Professor at the Department of Art History, Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts.
• 2012: Appointed Dean of the Faculty of Art Studies at the Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts.
• 2015: Joined the Department of History and Theory of Fine Arts at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts as a full-time Associate Professor.

• 2016: Appointed Head of the Department of History and Theory of Fine Arts for a five-year term.
• 2021: Appointed Associate Professor of the Department of Art Studies at the Azerbaijan State Academy of Choreography.
• 2022: Began serving as a full-time Associate Professor at the Department of Design, Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC).

Academic Contributions:

• Authored and published over 60 scientific and teaching-methodological works.
