The event commenced with an opening speech by UNEC’s Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Associate Professor Saadat Gandilova. Subsequently, the Director of the Inclusive Education Center, Sevinj Mahsimova, elaborated on the event’s objectives, emphasizing that its primary aim was to provide a platform for the mothers of students with disabilities to share their life experiences, the challenges they have faced, and their achievements. She highlighted the significant steps taken toward the integration of individuals with disabilities into education and society, underscoring UNEC’s exemplary model in the field of inclusive higher education. Additionally, she noted that UNEC ensures equal access to all academic and social opportunities for students with disabilities by providing the necessary infrastructure and support systems.
During the event, participating mothers recounted their personal experiences, discussing the difficulties encountered by their children and themselves, while also sharing valuable insights on overcoming societal and educational barriers.
Distinguished guests in attendance included Tunzala Verdiyeva, Head of the Department for the Organization of Mobile and Semi-Stationary Social Services under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Azada Mammadova, Chairperson of the “World of Skilled Hands” Public Association; Parvana Salmangizi, Chairperson of the “Zafer” Public Association; as well as therapist and osteopath Elfana Suleymanova. The speakers emphasized the importance of fostering the social inclusion of individuals with disabilities, underscoring the pivotal role of such initiatives in raising public awareness and advocating for equal access to education for all.
The event continued with a cultural program presented by members of the UNEC Creativity Center and the “World of Skilled Hands” Public Association.
Concluding the event, gifts were presented to the participating mothers by Farhad Cheyil, Director of Baku Fulla fashion company. Additionally, participants were honored with certificates of appreciation and awards in recognition of their contributions.
