Panel III: Session dedicated to alternative energy resources held
On June 13, the third panel session of the 7th International Scientific Conference for Researchers in the Fields of Economics and Management (ISCEMR-2025) was held at the Heydar Aliyev Center.
The session, titled “Prospects for solving economic, environmental, and energy challenges and the use of alternative energy resources,” was moderated by professor Elkhan Sadigzada from the Institute of Development Research and Policy at Ruhr University in Germany. Speakers included Sabina Isgandarova, instructor in environmental management at the University of Calgary, Canada; Avazbek Khalbekov, head of department at Uzbekistan’s Center for Sustainable Development; Firuza Jafarova, senior lecturer at the Department of environmental protection and economics at UNEC; and Aytek Babayeva, deputy director of the Scientific Research and Design Institute for Energy under “Azerenergy” JSC.
The panelists shared their insights on the implementation of alternative energy technologies, energy efficiency, environmental safety, and energy policy frameworks. Discussions also covered the economic, ecological, and technological potential of alternative energy sources; carbon emissions; environmental risks associated with the production and application of renewable energy sources; and viable solutions for a successful green energy transition. The panel additionally drew attention to the environmental destruction caused by Armenia in the Karabakh region, presenting legal and ecological analyses of these acts of environmental terrorism.
