The session, chaired by UNEC rector professor Adalat Muradov and attended by the heads of relevant university departments, addressed a wide range of topics, including the application of artificial intelligence in education and research, the competitive positioning of universities, and prospects for international cooperation.
Clarivate representatives, Mr. Valentin Bogorov and Mr. Stephen Hautorne, underscored UNEC’s status as one of Clarivate’s first partner institutions in Azerbaijan. They commended the university’s significant progress in the field of scientific research in recent years.
The discussions placed particular emphasis on the indexing of UNEC’s newly established scholarly journals in international databases, the organization and management of university libraries, and the enhancement of students’ and academic staff’s competencies in utilizing Clarivate products. Moreover, the integration of artificial intelligence into research activities and the assessment of universities’ social impact were identified as priority areas of collaboration.
It was further noted that UNEC has subscribed to three Clarivate products namely, the InCites Benchmarking & Analytics platform, the Web of Science Research Assistant artificial intelligence tool, and the ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global (PQDT) database. Additionally, since September of the current year, the university has obtained access to the ProQuest Ebook Central platform, thereby securing availability of more than 70,000 electronic books. These developments were highlighted as significant milestones in UNEC’s integration into the academic artificial intelligence ecosystem.
The event also underscored the prospective contributions of artificial intelligence tools to the advancement of higher education institutions. It was emphasized that artificial intelligence will assume a pivotal role in the design and implementation of universities’ strategic management plans, while the establishment of clear regulatory frameworks for its responsible use remains indispensable.
