The Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) and ABB have jointly commenced the “Data and Artificial Intelligence Certification Program”.
The official presentation ceremony, held at UNEC, was attended by Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov, Chairman of the Management Board of ABB, Abbas Ibrahimov, students who qualified for participation in the program, and representatives of both institutions.
In his opening address, Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov, underlined the strategic importance of cooperation between higher education institutions and the real sector. He stated that the “Data and Artificial Intelligence Certification Program,” developed jointly by UNEC and ABB, represents a notable example of effective collaboration between the university and the business community. The rector also provided detailed information on the initiatives undertaken at UNEC in connection with the integration of artificial intelligence into the educational process, and on the university’s long term vision of becoming a scientific and methodological center in this domain.
Delivering remarks at the event, Chairman of the Management Board of ABB, Abbas Ibrahimov, noted that the bank has implemented extensive and comprehensive projects in the field of data and artificial intelligence over the past three years. He emphasized that artificial intelligence has become one of the principal driving forces of global economic and technological development. Speaking about the objectives of the joint program, he stated: “As ABB, we take pride in being among the first business institutions in the country to introduce artificial intelligence solutions and to contribute to the rapid advancement of this field. I am confident that the achievements of the students participating in this program will contribute significantly to their individual professional development, as well as to the broader digital transformation processes in our country.”
During the ceremony, the high professional performance of UNEC graduates was also highlighted. It was noted that 1,061 UNEC alumni are currently employed at ABB, including 134 individuals serving in managerial positions.
It was further noted that 22 students from UNEC’s Faculty of Digital Economics have been selected to participate in the “Data and Artificial Intelligence Certification Program.” Over a period of six months, professional specialists working in the fields of data and artificial intelligence at ABB will deliver intensive training sessions at UNEC’s Computer Science Laboratory. Participation in these sessions will also be recognized as industrial internship experience. Students who successfully complete the certification program will be considered for potential employment opportunities at ABB.
