According to the results of the Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2026, released by Times Higher Education (THE), UNEC has been ranked first in Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus, and placed within the 351–400 band globally among world universities. With this achievement, UNEC is now recognised among the distinguished higher education institutions contributing to the advancement of interdisciplinary science.
This accomplishment is a direct outcome of the systematic initiatives carried out in line with the “UNEC-100” Development Strategy. Within the framework of this strategy, purposeful measures have been implemented to strengthen UNEC’s status as a research university, to reinforce interdisciplinary scientific schools, to increase the number of high impact publications, and to expand activities in the direction of becoming an innovation hub. Securing a place in this ranking will further enhance UNEC’s international scientific reputation, broaden cooperation opportunities with leading global universities, and stimulate the attraction of talented master’s and doctoral students as well as international research projects.
Most importantly, this achievement represents a major step forward by UNEC in fulfilling President Ilham Aliyev’s directive to “become a world-class university.”
