As part of efforts to further expand the startup ecosystem at UNEC, another significant initiative has been launched.

For the first time, the “Student StartUp” competition has been organized using UNEC’s internal financial resources, providing students with the opportunity to test, develop, and transform their ideas into fully fledged startup projects.

The projects submitted by students were evaluated during the interview stage, resulting in the selection of nine winning startup ideas. The winning teams met with UNEC Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov, to discuss their projects and future development plans.

During the meeting, Professor Muradov emphasized that transforming student ideas into real projects is a strategically important direction for the university and highlighted that increasing the number of student startups is among UNEC’s key priorities. He noted that the competition serves as a platform that encourages and supports students to think creatively, take risks, test new ideas, not fear making mistakes, and become familiar with the entrepreneurial world at an early stage. The Rector also underlined that institutional support for students’ innovative thinking and initiatives will be continuous.

An additional important step was taken for the winning teams. Upon the Rector’s instruction, support will be provided to assist the projects in obtaining Startup Certificates as well as the necessary documentation related to intellectual property and authorship rights.

The students highly appreciated the support shown to their ideas, stating that such initiatives increase their self-confidence, help them better visualize their future plans, and create valuable opportunities for developing a genuine business mindset.

The winning projects of the “Student StartUp” competition are: CVE.Labs. Every CVE Deserves a Lab, PixelSwift No-Code Website Builder Platform, Garaj – an instant service platform for car owners, Renter.az, FOODO, Yumio – a smart navigation platform for food and venue discovery, TapSur, YumaX – Azerbaijan’s first mobile car wash service and marketplace platform, and Budja Dostu.
