UNEC Ranked 14th Among Universities in Turkic States

Times Higher Education (THE) has today released its inaugural ranking of universities across the Turkic States. 

Koch University secured first place among 248 higher education institutions in the region, followed by Middle East Technical University in second place and Sabanji University in third. Kazakhstan’s Nazarbayev University ranked fourth, while Uzbekistan’s Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers placed seventh, both entering the top ten. Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) achieved the highest position among Azerbaijani universities, ranking first nationally and 14th overall, securing a place within the top 15 institutions.

Overall, Turkey is the most represented country in the ranking, with 109 universities included. The ranking covers the five member states of the Organization of Turkic States, namely Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkiye and Uzbekistan, and represents a filtered version of the THE World University Rankings 2026. Universities were evaluated based on 17 weighted performance indicators reflecting their core missions.
