IMF Representatives Deliver a Presentation to UNEC Students on Global Economic Trends

Representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) conducted a comprehensive presentation for UNEC students on prevailing global and regional economic trends.

Borislava Mircheva, Senior Economist in the Regional Analysis and Strategy Division of the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia Department, and Bilal Tabtini, Economist of the same department, provided an extensive overview of the global economic landscape, recent developments in tariff policy, and the economic consequences of ongoing conflicts in the Middle East-Central Asia region. Their presentation was based on the IMF’s October 2025 economic outlook for the countries of the region. The IMF officials also elaborated on the potential effects of tariff measures introduced by the United States on the economies of the Caucasus and Central Asia.

During the meeting, the findings of the IMF’s analytical assessment pertaining to the Middle East and Central Asia were also presented.

At the conclusion of the session, IMF representatives addressed questions from UNEC students, offering detailed explanations regarding global risk factors, regional economic prospects, and the analytical methodologies employed by the IMF.
