Ting Li, a citizen of the People’s Republic of China, is currently pursuing her doctoral studies at UNEC.

She obtained the right to study at UNEC within the framework of the Intergovernmental Scholarship Program. Now a second-year PhD student, Ting Li shared her impressions of UNEC and Azerbaijan with UNEC News.

We present below the video interview prepared by the Public Relations Department:

“My name is Ting Li, and I am from China. At present, I am undertaking doctoral studies in World Economics at UNEC and have advanced to the second year of the program. I came to UNEC through the Intergovernmental Exchange Program, and I would like to express my profound gratitude to both the Chinese and Azerbaijani governments for making this opportunity possible. This program has enabled me to experience new cultures, form meaningful friendships, and gain a broader and more global outlook.

I completed my bachelor’s degree in Business English in China. Subsequently, I continued my education at UNEC Business School, pursuing an MBA degree with a concentration in Finance. The academic environment at UNEC left such a positive and lasting impression on me that I chose to continue my studies at the doctoral level here as well. I am currently exploring the field of World Economics in greater depth, and UNEC provides extensive academic and research opportunities in this direction.

UNEC offers outstanding conditions for students. I first became acquainted with its 24/7 library during my master’s studies. I spent considerable time there, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although that period was challenging, the sincerity and kindness of the Azerbaijani people deeply impressed me. Thanks to their hospitality, I never felt like a foreigner; rather, I felt as though I were in my own home.

Studying here is both comfortable and motivating. My professors and academic supervisor have consistently supported me and guided my academic journey. My fellow students are also very friendly; we cooperate well and overcome difficulties together. For me, studying at UNEC represents not only academic progress, but also personal development.

One of the aspects I appreciate most about Azerbaijan is its traditional, yet welcoming and tolerant environment. People here are sincere, warm-hearted, and modest. Chinese students are treated with particular warmth, which allows us to feel safe, respected, and valued.

There are notable differences between the education systems of China and Azerbaijan. In China, due to the large population, admission to reputable universities is highly competitive and demands rigorous preparation. In Azerbaijan, the educational process is more flexible and less stressful, which enhances self-confidence and allows for a deeper understanding of the academic material.

Studying at UNEC is a great privilege for me. The university provides a strong foundation in economics and equips students with comprehensive, internationally recognized knowledge. I wholeheartedly recommend UNEC to anyone wishing to pursue studies in the field of economics.

Upon completion of my doctoral studies, I plan to return to China. I intend to teach students there and share with them the knowledge and experience I have gained in Azerbaijan. UNEC has truly opened a new chapter in my life, and this experience will remain invaluable to me.”
