The 37-th International Scientific Confrence on “Socio-economic Problems of Sustainable Development” was held
The 37-th International Scientific Conference on the topic of “Socio-economic Problems of Sustainable Development” was held with the organization of the Azerbaijan State Economics University (UNEC) and the Economic Social Development entity (ESD).
In the opening ceremony of the international conference held at the Park Inn Hotel in Baku, along with the organizers of the conference participated the Ministry of Education of the Azerbaijan Republic, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Taxes, the Minisrty of Finance, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the State Committee for Statistics, the Chamber of Auditors, the National Confiderataion of Enterpreuneurship Organizations, the Analysis of Economic Reforms and the Communications Center and the other government officials, the Members of the Parliament, the corresponding members of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
The professor Sakit Yagubov, the pro-rector of UNEC on Science and Innovations delivered the openieng speech at the international conference and conveyed the greetings of the rector of the university, professor Adalat Muradov to the conference participants. S.Yagubov informed the participants of the conference that, Azerbaijan joined the “ Transformation of our World: the Sustainable Development Agenda up to 2030” agreement, which was called the Sustainable Development Goals containing of 17 goals combining 169 targets defined for these purposes. He also noted that, taking into consideration the support of scientists for this initiative, the 37-th International Conference on Socio-Economic Problems of Sustainable Development was organized in Baku with the mutual cooperation of UNEC and ESD (Economic Social Development) organization. S.Yagubov underlined that, at the international conference, covering 201 reports in six directions from different coutries around the world, the main directions of the sustainable development concept were reflected.
Shahin Bayramov, the Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Higher and Secondary Special Education of the Ministry of Education, assessed hosting of Baku the international conference as a result of a successful state policy in Azerbaijan. The official of the ministry stressed that, the organization of the conference by the UNEC, one of the leading universities in the counrty was proving the growing influence of Azerbaijani higher education in the international higher education and science space. Referring to the conference as the paltform where the social-economic issues were widely discussed, Sh. Bayramov said that, the flexible mechanism for implementing the development strategy of the country created the wide opportunities for the social and economic development: “The participation of large number of scientists from different countries of the world gives grounds to say that, the scientists are also interested in bringing sustainable development to the society in the context of socio-economic development”.
The president of the Organizing Committee, Domagoj Cingula, expressed his gratitude towards the UNEC management for the support given to the organization of the international conference in the high level, called holding the 37-th conferenece in Azerbaijan as the remakable event. He noted that, the conference would focus on the socio-economic problems of sustainable development together with the researchers from more than 16 countries around the world and the global challenges would be analyzied. D.Cingula said that, the articles admitted to the conference would be published in such authoritative international scientific bases as “Web of Science” and “EconLit”.
The member of the Organizing Committee, the Director of the Department at Zagreb University Marijan Cingula said that, it was his first visit to Azerbaijan, and called Baku a very beautiful city, resembling Paris and Singapore. Providing the information about the project, M.Cingula noted that the goal was to incorporate the economic development factors into the context of social welfare and to direct the development of the countries to this direction.
The event continued with speeches on the discussion of the current challenges of the world economy.
The international conference will continue its work within 2 days at the sectional meetings held at UNEC.
