Lia Agustina Feronika Simanjuntak, a citizen of Indonesia, is currently a master’s student in the MBA program at the UNEC Business School, specializing in “Food Product Quality Management.”

As a winner of the “Heydar Aliyev International Education Grant” program, she was granted the right to study at UNEC. Lia, a second-year student, shared her impressions of her student life in Azerbaijan, her education at UNEC, and the country with UNEC News.

The interview, prepared by the Public Relations Department, is also presented to readers in a video format:

“I came from Indonesia. My admission to UNEC was made possible by the scholarship program offered by the Azerbaijani government. I consider myself very fortunate to have been given this opportunity and extend my gratitude to the government of Azerbaijan.

When applying for the scholarship program, we were given extensive information about the universities and programs. I had completed my undergraduate studies in agricultural technologies, and the MBA program offered by UNEC was a perfect fit for my future plans. Therefore, I selected UNEC without any hesitation.

Prior to my arrival in Baku, it wasn’t difficult to gather information about the university and the country. UNEC’s official website and other resources provide the necessary information to international students in an accessible format. The availability of this information in Azerbaijani, Russian, and English was particularly beneficial to me.

Naturally, as someone from a tropical country, I anticipated some challenges with the local language and weather; however, I found these to be manageable. Multilingual information is readily available for public services such as transportation. The local population is incredibly accommodating, which allows me to comfortably ask for assistance whenever needed.

…UNEC has equipped me with international communication skills. In addition to studying at UNEC, I communicate with people from various countries. This multicultural environment has been instrumental in the development of my communication abilities. The multilingual setting here is particularly interesting and provides a unique personal experience for me.

The people are incredibly friendly and helpful. Although the classes are conducted in English, professors and students sometimes communicate in other languages they are fluent in. This dynamic atmosphere is both engaging and highly enriching.

Baku is a magnificent city. I particularly admire the historic buildings, Icharishahar, and the boulevard. My campus is situated in close proximity to these landmarks, and I enjoy spending leisure time there with my friends.

In closing, Lia emphasized UNEC’s international recognition and encouraged other foreign students to consider applying to the university:

“UNEC holds a distinguished reputation in the fields of economics, management, and business. If you are seeking to pursue your master’s, doctoral, or bachelor’s education abroad, don’t hesitate to apply to UNEC. It will be a unique experience for you as well.”
