Ambassador of Russia: I believe that the graduates of UNEC will contribute to the Azerbaijani-Russian economic relations
Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Russia to Azerbaijan Mikhail Nikolayevich Bocharnikov visited Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC).
During the meeting with UNEC rector, professor Adalat Muradov, the ambassador was informed about the university. It was noted that UNEC is the only university providing higher education in 4 languages in the region and having a branch in the Russian Federation. Stating the importance of giving education in Russian in UNEC, the rector spoke about the activity of Russian Economic School (RIM) and noted that economic-oriented teaching is being carried out on 9 specialities. Speaking about cooperation and bilateral diplomacy programs on masters and bachelor degree with prestigious universities of Europe, A.Muradov said that he was interested in expanding ties with Russian higher education institutions in this direction, too. He said bilateral diplomacy agreement in inclusive education was reached between UNEC and Moscow State Humanitarian Economic University (MSHEU). The rector also emphasized that cooperation programs have been implemented between Russian University of Economics named after Plekhanov and “Higher Economic School” National Research University.
M.Bocharnikov assessed the interest to the Russian language in Azerbaijan as a vivid example of friendly relations between the two countries. He said he would support the establishment and expansion of cooperation between higher education institutions of both countries in order to continue education in Russian in Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged opinions on the issues of publishing scientific journals, organizing summer school, conducting exchange of teachers and students jointly with Russian higher educational institutions. Then the Russian diplomat met with professor-teacher staff and students of Russian Economic School. Calling the establishment of RES in UNEC as an important event, the ambassador expressed his confidence that graduates of the faculty would make a great contribution to the development of economic relations between Russia and Azerbaijan with their knowledge and skills.
The ambassador answered the questions of teachers and students about cooperation with Russian universities, joint scientific researches, establishment of think tanks with the Caspian states, including Russian-Azerbaijani relations, development of economic relations and other issues.
Pointing out that the relations between the two countries have increased from the neighborly relations to the level of strategic partnership, the diplomat said that the bilateral relations between Russia and Azerbaijan are successfully developing in all directions.
M.Bocharnikov has recommended the proposals being prepared for the establishment of cooperation with Russia in the field of science and education and submitted to the embassy.
