Businesspeople met at UNEC: “New Economic Challenge and Modern Education”
Event attended by the representatives of the prestigious of Azerbaijan’s and businessmen has taken place at Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) on February 17. The event organized by the Faculty Technology and Design was on “New Economic Challenge and Modern Education”.
Event was attended by the Heads and representatives of the most leading companies, holdings and enterprises on oil sector Azersun Holding Ltd., Az-Granata Ltd., MADO chain of restaurants, TAIS Commercial-manufacturing company, Can-Pa Ltd., Scientific Research Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking of the Republic of Azerbaijan, “Caspian Fish Co. Azerbaijan”, “Sevimli Dad” (Lovely Taste) Ltd., Gilan Textile Park, Gilan Holding Production and Commerce Ltd., Europe Group of Companies, “Sahliyali” Ltd., “Zahmat Ruzi” Ltd. (SAB).
Vice-rector of UNEC for Teaching and Training Technologies, Professor Damat Baghirov spoke about the reforms held by the President of the Republic in the direction of improving the business environment and increasing the efficiency of state administration. He said, UNEC is responding to the challenges by the President of the country with real steps. Thus, significant work is done in the direction of modernization of economic education at the university and improving the quality parameters in economic education. D.Baghirov said that UNEC students’ recruitment is among the top priorities of the university.
The companies’ representatives and businesspeople attending the event noted the universities to play an important role in the development of the cadres’ meeting the modern requirements. Pointing the plants and enterprises of Azerbaijan to be equipped with the latest technologies, the guests emphasized that there is a demand for technological specialists to meet the modern requirements in Azerbaijan. It was also noted that the entrepreneurs are interested in involving local cadres and specialists to enterprises and manufactures; the foreign specialists are paid more than foreign specialists.
The importance of teaching practical knowledge along with the theory has also been stressed within the event. The outdated subjects were pointed to be replaced with new ones which meet modern requirements. To this end, representatives of companies and institutions should be familiar with the curriculum, give suggestions for subjects required.
UNEC sides highly appreciated the activities of the Career Center. It was noted UNEC students familiarization tour companies are on a regular basis. UNEC students are noted to be more active and enthusiastic compared to other universities.
The Dean of the School of Technology and Design, Professor Vakil Huseynov expressed the Heads of the leading companies of the country for the demonstration of the assistance in the development of young specialists in food and light industry.
Event went on with discussions; proposals on expanding cooperation were made.
