The last meeting of the Scientific Council in 2018/2019 academic year has been held at UNEC
Professor Sakit Yaqubov, the vice-rector for Science and Innovations of UNEC, made a report on “Scientific Activity of UNEC in 2018”.
The report also has provided information on current scientific and research works carried out at UNEC, national and international grant projects, international and national level scientific conferences, as well as articles published in journals indexed in prestigious international databases. It was noted that in 2018 the number of articles published in journals of Impact Factor by UNEC staff has risen 1.6 times over the past three years.
UNEC Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov said that measures taken by UNEC for getting research-based university status give positive results. Noting that the position of UNEC on scientific activity has increased in the ranking of international rating agencies, the rector noted that the number of articles of lecturers published in the Web of Science and Scopus has increased rapidly. A.Muradov emphasized the importance of using scientific potential of students, masters and PhD students in this direction along with the lecturers’.
Later, Vice-rector for Economic Affairs, Associate Professor Mikail Zeynalov’s report on “The results of financial and economic activity of Azerbaijan State University of Economics in 2018” was listened. It was noted that compared to previous periods, UNEC budget increased by 2 and the average monthly salary by 1.4 times. It was also said that UNEC has the highest salary for teachers among state higher educational institutions.
Both reports were unanimously adopted by members of the Scientific Council.
The Scientific Council also stated that new criteria for writing and printing textbooks and training aids were being prepared. It was noted that the textbooks that meet the criteria would be published on the university’s charge.
The board members were informed about the salary rules of the academic staff invited to conduct research abroad. Professor Sakit Yaqubov told the main principles of the rules. The new rules also indicate that when UNEC teachers are invited to conduct research at prestigious universities, their salaries will be paid by the university during their research. After the discussions, new rules have been approved.
During the council it was noted that the curriculum of master′s on Economics and Management specialties was amended. Under the amendment, the subject of “Academic writing” has been added to the curriculum.
The other innovation was related to the involvement of more foreign students to UNEC. Director of the department of International Cooperation Sannur Aliyev has announced the provisions of the project to be implemented in this direction.
The Scientific Council approved the Statutes of the Center for Analytical Information Resources, Center for Econophysics, Energy Economy Center, UNEC Business School Development Economics Research Center, UNEC Multiculturalism Scientific Research Center and Digital Economy Centers.
