An International Scientific Conference held at UNEC
A International Scientific Conference on “International Economic and Administrative Prospects: New Regional Visions” has started its work at Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) on September 28. The Conference jointly organized by UNEC and the Suleyman Demirel University of Turkey dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the state independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 187 representatives of 54 universities from 12 countries attend the event.
Making an opening speech in the conference, Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov spoke about the achievements gained by within the period, having a glance to the 25- year history of the restoration of Azerbaijan’s state independence. He said that Azerbaijan has become today one of the world’s powerful countries as a result of the successful policy pursued by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev’s worthy successor, President Ilham Aliyev. Rector emphasized the country’s future economic development is in close relations with non- oil sector: “To maximize non- oil exports the effects of the global markets should be taken into consideration and the real production capacity of the country should be based on”. Drawing the attention to the importance of the conference, A.Muradov said that a number of topics related to the economic development of Azerbaijan, as well as the processes happen in the world economy and their solutions will be discussed within the international conference today. The Rector also said that the solution of existing problems does not just depend on the economists; it depends on scientists and joint cooperation of scholars as well. A.Muradov brought into the participants’ attention the significant role of the conference in deepening cooperation between the universities, inviting them to closer cooperation with the Association of Turkish World Economists.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship, Academician Ziyad Samadzade spoke about the path crossed country’s economy over the past 25 years of independence and achievements gained. Highlighting the importance of the conference in strengthening ties with the world’s leading universities, the Academician said that the realization of such a grand event at UNEC is the result of the success achieved by the University of Economics. Bringing together the representatives of 54 universities of the globe at UNEC meets either the national interests of the country or the international.
The Director of the Institute of Economy of the ANAS, Professor Nazim Imanov highly appreciated that the University of Economics he had graduated from hosts the prestigious international scientific conference of the world. Speaking about Azerbaijan’s history of independence, the scholar pointed that the greatest achievement obtained in this way is our economic independence.
Head of Turkic World Research Foundation Kozhan Yazgan stressed the significance of economic cooperation in the rapid and comprehensive development of Azerbaijan-Turkey relations. Talking about the fraternity and friendship between the two countries, he noted that this relationship is developing more rapidly from day to day. Yazgan associated the achievements gained by Azerbaijan in the short period of time with proper management of the country’s economic and political strategy.
The President of the Association of Azerbaijan-Turkey Businesspeople Jemal Yangin spoke about the importance of close cooperation of business people and higher education institutions and being surrounded by the academic staff. He stressed that the businessman could not go beyond their own environment that is away from the university. The President of the AATB noted the important role of the conference in expanding relations between the universities of Azerbaijan and Turkey.
A dual diploma agreement on Graduate Program has been achieved between the Azerbaijan State University of Economics and the Suleyman Demirel University of Turkey within the international conference.
The report and discussion of the selected scientific works by the Science Committee of the Conference went on panel and section meetings. Report and debate of about 200 scientific articles are planned to be held in more than 30 section meetings. The proposal on the implementation of a number of influential scientific conferences at UNEC has been made during the event. The event will last until September 30.
