The Assembly, held in Tashkent, brought together distinguished participants including deputy head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan for education reforms, Hilola Umarova; Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Kubanychbek Omuraliev; minister of Higher education, science and innovation of Uzbekistan, Kongratbay Sharipov; president of the Turkic Academy, professor Shahin Mustafayev; and other high-ranking officials. The speakers shared their views on the achievements attained within the framework of TURKUNIB, as well as future directions of cooperation among member universities.
During the event, OTS Secretary-General Kubanychbek Omuraliev announced the allocation of USD 1 million to support the further development of the Orhun Exchange Program. Additionally, 62 new universities from the Turkic world, including 12 higher education institutions from Azerbaijan – ADA University, Western Caspian University, Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU), Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University (ASPU), Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts (ADMIU), Nakhchivan State University (NSU), Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS), Khazar University, Azerbaijan Tourism and Management University (ATMU), Odlar Yurdu University, and Baku Eurasian University – were admitted as new members of the Union of Turkic Universities.
Addressing the Assembly, rector Adalat Muradov shared his views on the financial model of TURKUNIB, improving its governance structure, the establishment of a Secretariat, and the further development of the Orhun Exchange program.
As part of the visit, participants also toured the newly established International University of the Turkic States. Rector of the university, professor Bakhodir Turaev, briefed the delegation on the ongoing construction works and future development plans.
In addition, rector Adalat Muradov met with professor Tulkin Teshabayev, rector of Tashkent State University of Economics (TSUE), together with professor Yücel Ogurlu, rector of Balıkesir University. During the meeting, the parties discussed TSUE’s dynamic progress in recent years, student admissions under the UNEC-TSUE Dual Degree Program, and prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in the future.
