UNEC Students meet Veterans of War
Meeting with the veterans of war took place at Azerbaijan State University of Economics on May 17. The aim of the event was instilling in young people a sense of patriotism and love of country.
Chairman of Republic Organization of Veterans, reserve Major- General Dadash Rzayev, veterans of World War II and Chief of Baku City Youth and Sports Department Rafig Abbasov attended the meeting.
UNEC Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov noted that the youth policy founded by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev is successfully realized by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev with great perseverance and determination. As a result of this policy, young people with the high intellectual level, national idea and most importantly with the spirit of patriotism are growing up in Azerbaijan. Knowledge is the most powerful weapon- said A.Muradov and highlighted that we should make them master with knowledge and science.
Rector spoke about the events taking place in the front line the first days of April, Azerbaijan soldier’s heroism and valor. He said, these events proved that that Azerbaijan has powerful army and soldiers who are ready at any moment to defense their homeland. Armed with modern technology, our army is ready to liberate our lands.
Speaking to UNEC students Major- General Dadash Rzayev said that there are young people who are ready to liberate the occupied lands and the Republic Organization of Veterans is consistently working for the growth of spirit of loyalty, military patriotism, national and spiritual values and holds regular meetings. He noted our oldest veterans are contributing their knowledge and experience to promote glorious history and combat traditions of Azerbaijan. Expressing satisfaction with the meeting with UNEC students Major- General Dadash Rzayev stressed that the kind of meetings are targeted to inspire young people to be ready any moment to liberate our occupied territories. Young people should study the glorious path passed by our veterans and should be brought up with national and patriotism spirit.
Rafig Abbasov, Chief of Baku City Youth and Sports Department spoke about young people’s role in Azerbaijan’s position among the leading world countries, rapid development and gaining a great reputation. He noted that the basis of this success is the policy of the Azerbaijani state targeted youth. Exactly the concern and confidence by the President Ilham Aliyev, all conditions created for them led to an increase in their role in the achievements. Today the youths are created all opportunities in the country. Meetings of higher education institutions with the soldiers in the frontline and contact line are held regularly. R.Abbasov urged young people to be active not only in the trenches, but also in the media and social networks in informing the world about Azerbaijan realities.
Chairman of UNEC’s Center for Patriots Abdulbagi Hamidov made a speech on patriotism.
Afterwards, the awarding ceremony took place. Member of Parliament, Head of the Department Price and Pricing, Professor Khanhuseyn Kazimi was awarded with a diploma “Careful Veteran” by the Presidium of the Organization of Veterans.
Vice-rector for Students’ Affairs Saadat Gandilova was awarded the Honorary Diploma for “Active participation in the University’s socio-political life”.
Dean of the School of Economics and Industry Asiman Guliyev, teaching staffs of the Department Price and Pricing Bulud Sadigov, Ibrahim Guliyev and the students were introduced Diplomas by the Organization of Veterans.
Battle memories talked by the veterans of Patriotic War were of great interest by the students.
Veterans responded the students’ questions at the end and memory photos were taken together.
