UNEC and Sunway University of Malaysia Expand Strategic Partnership

A delegation from the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC), led by Rector Professor Adalat Muradov, visited Sunway University as part of its working visit to Malaysia. Sunway University is recognised as the largest private higher education institution in the country.

During the meeting, the UNEC delegation was received by the President of Sunway University, Professor Sibrandes Poppema. The President provided the guests with a comprehensive overview of Sunway University’s historical development, structural features, academic capacity, technological infrastructure and strategic priorities, all of which are aligned with the principles of the fifth generation university model.

In his address, UNEC Rector Professor Adalat Muradov presented detailed information on UNEC’s current development trajectory, ongoing projects, international programmes, innovation initiatives and reforms aimed at strengthening the university’s competitiveness.

Sunway University’s Vice President, Professor Abhimanyu Veerakumarisavam, emphasised the significance of academic and scientific cooperation at both regional and global levels, noting that closer partnership between the two institutions would create new opportunities.

During the discussions, the parties explored prospects for expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including joint research initiatives, academic exchange programmes and institutional partnership priorities.

At the conclusion of the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between UNEC and Sunway University.
