Rector of the National Research University \u201cHigher School of Economics\u201d of Russia Yaroslav Kuzminov visited Azerbaijan State University of Economics on the invitation of the higher institution on July 3 of this year. First of all, the guests paid tribute and laid flowers to the National Leader Heydar Aliyev\u2019s grave at the Honorary Cemetery. Then they also visited the outstanding ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva\u2019s grave.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are several reasons which prompted me for writing on this topic:<\/span><\/p>\n

Firstly, I\u2019ve been familiar with the training provided and research made in this higher school approximately for 10 years. Higher School of Economics is not far behind of the leading research universities (centers) in the West.<\/span><\/p>\n

Secondly, this higher school has published hundreds of books that reflect the research conducted in the field of education and science and translation of books. For example, the literatures translated from the series of \u201cEducational Theory and Practice\u201d are of great importance for educators and scientists. These literatures are so fundamental, even those who do not speak English, will not need the additional literature. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thirdly, we are very glad for the cooperation established between this higher school and Azerbaijan State University of Economics. It indicates that the new administration of the University of Economics intends to convert the university into the research center. It is very important example and aimed at strengthening the unity of science in education. World experience shows that in the higher education institution giving priority to scientific research the quality of education inevitable higher.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rector of the University, Professor Adalat Muradov spoke about the plans to be implemented between the two universities and the significance of this cooperation during the meeting. Main directions of the cooperation between ASUE and the prestigious National Research University \u201cHigher School of Economic\u201d of Russia are the implementation of the dual diploma undergraduate and graduate programs in Russian, realization of joint undergraduate and graduate students and teaching staff\u2019s exchange, conducting joint research on relevant topics and the joint participation in international scientific- research granting projects, providing the opportunity for the number of researchers of the other university to carry out the research and the exchange of experience in the direction of determining the teaching staff\u2019s rating.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As it is seen the spectrum of the collaboration is very wide and this will lead to strengthening the University of Economics\u2019 image in future.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then the outstanding guest was received by the Minister of Education Mikayil Jabbarov. The guests were informed about the education reforms realized by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev and the execution of the \u201cState Strategy on the Development of Education in the Republic of Azerbaijan\u201d in detail. Y. Kuzminov who took part in the meeting noted that the practical work in this direction has already been underway and the visit aims to deepen this cooperation, stressing his interest in establishing the cooperation with the partners from Azerbaijan. The guest noted the higher education institution headed by him has a great reputation in the Russian Federation within 15 years and realizes dual diploma programs with leading universities around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

Higher School of Economics listed on \u201cQS\u201d and \u201cWebometrics\u201d world ranking was established as the University of National Research in 1992. The university has about 25 thousand of students and 2500 academic staff members. The university which has 35 thousands of alumni covers all stages of education beginning from the lyceum to doctoral studies and MBA level. Wide spectrum of teaching on engineering and computer sciences are carried out along with the humanitarian and socio- economic majors at the higher education institution providing dual diploma programs with the leading universities of the globe.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Higher School of Economics is realizing the conception of the Research University beginning from 2000. It stimulates the instructors\u2019 interest in scientific researches and publishing their articles on the influenced journals. Their motto is- \u201cOur ambition is to become the research university\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

All this gives ground to say that the University of Economics has already begun to restore the reputation lost. Due to the kind of cooperation the University will enhance the scientific potential and continue to grow the respected scientists in the field of economy. These steps will strengthen young people\u2019s interest in science.<\/p>\n

At all times, the paradigms of economic studies determined the resolution of social and economic life of society. I think, the University of Economics will become the center of the economic research in the country and help overcoming the lack of literature in economy. Also, it will contribute to the implementation of interdisciplinary researches more efficiently. The influenced universities collaborated with the University of Economics adequately perform these functions. The cooperation set by the authoritative universities and the University of Economics should be written to the history of university with golden letters.<\/span><\/p>\n

P.S. We should note another success of the University of Economics. The MBA Department of the University became the member of the European Fund for Management Development and full member of the Global Network of EFMD.<\/span><\/p>\n
