On January 17, a memorial event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of prominent scholar and intellectual Flora Davudqizi was held at UNEC<\/a><\/span>.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n

The event was organized as part of UNEC’s 95th anniversary celebrations to honor Flora Davudqizi’s contributions to Azerbaijani science and education during her tenure at UNEC (formerly known as D. Bunyadzade AXTI).<\/p>\n

The event began with a speech by the Director of the Foreign Languages Department, Associate Professor Aysel Khalilova, who provided an extensive overview of Flora Davudqizi’s work, scientific achievements, and creative output during her many years at UNEC. She highlighted Flora Davudqizi’s published books, awards, and invaluable contributions to Azerbaijani science. The participants then watched a short video presentation about Flora Davudqizi’s life.<\/p>\n

Among the speakers were Associate Professor Aygun Vakilova, PhD in Philology Sevinj Bagirova, and Rafayat Jafarova, who delivered presentations on Flora Davudqizi’s scientific endeavors and her services to education.<\/p>\n

Flora Davudqizi’s grandchildren, Fatima Jafarova and Leyla Kishiyeva, as well as the Director of the UNEC Translation Center, Najaf Nabiyev, shared their memories of her, emphasizing her admirable personal qualities and significant contributions to Azerbaijani science.<\/p>\n

Life and Scientific Contributions of Flora Davudqizi<\/strong><\/p>\n

Flora Davud qizi was born on January 13, 1945, in a teacher’s family in Gazakh. She graduated from Secondary School No. 22 in Agstafa in 1960 and entered the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages (currently Azerbaijan University of Languages) in 1961, graduating in 1966 with honors as a teacher of German and Azerbaijani languages.<\/p>\n

In 1966, Flora Davudqizi began her career at UNEC (formerly D. Bunyadzade AXTI) as a lecturer in the Department of Foreign Languages, where she served as the department head from 1988 to 2000. During this period, she played a pivotal role in UNEC’s academic and scientific activities. In 2008, she defended her doctoral dissertation titled \u201cTranslation and Study of the Dastans of \u2018Kitabi-Dede Gorgud\u2019 into German\u201d and earned the title of Doctor of Philology.<\/p>\n

Flora Davudqizi held a significant place in Azerbaijani folklore studies. She discovered a previously unknown manuscript of \u201cKitabi-Dede Gorgud\u201d in the \u201cDits\u201d collection of the Berlin Royal Library and conducted groundbreaking research in the field. She authored over 100 scientific and methodological articles, 10 monographs, books, and teaching aids. Her monograph titled \u201cArtistic Translation of \u2018Kitabi-Dede Gorgud\u2019 Dastans into German\u201d was awarded a diploma by the Azerbaijan-Europe Literary and Cultural Relations Center.<\/p>\n
