An exhibition-conference on \u201cGreat Leader Heydar Aliyev\u2019s personal books gifted by to the National Library of the Republic of Azerbaijan\u201d dedicated to the 93rd<\/sup> anniversary of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev\u2019s birthday has been organized by Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) and the National Library of the Republic of Azerbaijan on May 4.<\/p>\n

The participants of the conference paid tribute to the Great Leader\u2019s memory with a minute\u2019s silence laying the flowers at the National Leader\u2019s bust erected at the university. Then a glance to the books gifted by Heydar Aliyev to the National Library was made.<\/p>\n

UNEC Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov emphasized the importance of studying the National Leader\u2019s way of life, his wealthy heritage by today\u2019s youth. He said the development of libraries as an integral part of the national culture was of great importance by Heydar Aliyev. According to the National Leader, \u201cLibrary is a sacred place for the nation, people and community and the source of spirituality, knowledge and wisdom. Therefore, the respect constantly paid to libraries demonstrates the factors of our people\u2019s culture\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Director of the National Library of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Professor Kerim Tahirov spoke about the attention and care paid by the Great Leader in the development of Azerbaijan culture and delivering our preserved cultural wealth for future generations.<\/p>\n

He said during the difficult historical period in 1993 in Azerbaijan the library network also faced with the treat of destruction. Mainly in this period, the Great Leader\u2019s return to power at a request of the nation, escaped completely collapse of our science, culture, as to prevent the spilling of libraries. Another successful step taken by the Great Leader which play an important role in library building in Azerbaijan and considered a turning point in the history of the library is adoption of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on \u201cLibrary Work\u201d.<\/p>\n

K.Tahirov pointed that it is impossible not to speak about the care to the work of libraries in the country rendered by the President Ilham Aliyev who properly go ahead and develop the ideas of the great leader. The President\u2019s decree on \u201cImplementation of Mass Publications in Azerbaijani language with Latin alphabet\u201d signed in 2004 has played an important role in the development of library work in Azerbaijan. K.Tahirov drawn to attention the publishing and distribution of the books in 25 thousand copies to all libraries of the country as a gift created conditions for the return of readers to libraries.<\/p>\n

The participants of the event spoke on the cultural creative events administered by the Great Leader and the transformation of the library work to the priority and the factor that affects the cultural life of the community.<\/p>\n

A short film prepared from the Great Leader\u2019s speech in the National Library on June 3 1995 was demonstrated at the end.<\/p>\n
