First at UNEC: “Speaking” skills of the students in the foreign language are assessed
Students’ speaking skills in a foreign language have been assessed for the first time at UNEC.
Vice-Rector for Education Geray Musayev, Dean of the Finance and Accounting Faculty Hafis Hajiyev, Head of Public Relations Department Elnara Mammadova, Student-Rector Jabbar Jalilov, the chairman of SYO Matlab Garayev observed the progress of the exams. It was observed that students freely and comfortably expressed their opinions and answered questions in the individually conducted “Speaking” exams.
It should be noted that according to the new standards applied at UNEC from the 2019/2020 academic year, foreign language (English, German, French, Russian) is taught to students in “Listening”, “Reading”, “Writing” and “Speaking” skills. The purpose of the new standards applied in all faculties is to further increase the foreign language level of students and train highly qualified economist students and young researchers who can conduct research in a foreign language.
English textbook, syllabus, and exam questions related to the application of new standards have been prepared in accordance with qualifications. In order to develop students’ listening skills, language cabinets have been installed in all educational buildings of the university. Students’ language skills are assessed based on international experience.
