Speaking at the opening of the event, Adila Abdullayeva, the director of UNEC LIC, Ph.D. in history pointed out that the conference was held within the framework of the “Reading Culture” event plan dedicated to the “Year of Heydar Aliyev”. A.Abdullayeva said that there will be discussions dedicated to current topics related to academic libraries at the conference and wished success to the work of the conference.
The vice-rector for education, Assoc. Professor Geray Musayev talked about the role of the Library-Information Center in the implementation of the successful development strategy of the university and the successes achieved. He emphasized that the library information potential plays an important role in continuously strengthening the position of the university in the international education market.
General Director of CSL of ANAS, Professor Mammad Aliyev noted the importance of the conference in terms of the development of library work in Azerbaijan, the study of Heydar Aliyev’s services in this field, as well as the study of modern trends in library and information field.
Associate Professor Nigar Ismayilova, director of BSU’s Scientific Library, spoke about Great Leader Heydar Aliyev’s great contributions to the development of library work in Azerbaijan and the scientific and practical importance of the conference.
Ph.D. in Technical Sciences, Elchin Mammadov, director of the ADA University library, noted the importance of the conference in terms of research and application of modern library services in our country and said that next year the sections of the world-famous IFLA conference will be held in Baku. He expressed his confidence that the joint cooperation of UNEC and ADA University libraries will make a great contribution to this conference.
Narmina Abdullayeva, head of library No. 3 of UNEC LIC, brought statistical information about the conference to attention. He noted that the conference was attended by the academic staff, library managers, qualified librarians and about 100 experts in this field of higher education institutions of different regions of the republic and foreign countries (Hacettepe University, Kastamonu University, the library of the Siberian branch of Russian EA, BSU, ADA University, Central Scientific Library of ANAS, ASUCA, Nakhchivan University, MSU, Dagestan State University, Azerbaijan National library, Khazar University, Odlar Yurdu University, etc.). Among them, 42 theses of 50 authors and co-authors were evaluated by the scientific committee and published in the conference materials.
The conference continued with discussions on sections on the application and impact of artificial intelligence on library work, smart libraries, the importance of bibliometric research in academic libraries, and other relevant topics.
In the end, certificates were presented to participants and members of the organizing committee.
After the conference, the participants shared extensively on their personal social accounts about the importance of the conference, where current issues of academic libraries were discussed, and the contributions it made to library work.
