The representatives of Mass Media have controlled the progress of winter exam session of Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) on January 12. More than 20 journalists of the prestigious media agencies have taken part in the event held under the motto “Knowledge should be assessed transparently and objective”.
Director of the Center for Assessment of the Quality of Education and Management Ragif Gasimov has made “public inspectors” familiar with the progress of exams and the instructions during the meeting realized on the basis of the Minister of Education Mikayil Jabbarov’s order about the “Organization and implementation of exam session”. He said that aiming to provide the objectivity and to save the transparency in the assessment of the students’ knowledge all necessary conditions for the public representatives’ participation within the session have been created. UNEC Rector will also held “Open Door” days every Saturday during the exam session. “Headquarters” has been created in all academic buildings. University’s “Hotline” (146-1-3) investigates appeals operatively. Afterwards the “public controllers” checked exams held in all academic buildings of UNEC.
After the exams journalists met with UNEC Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov. Rector spoke about the reforms carried out, targets of the university and problems encountered in the process of work. Mentioning about the students’ attendance Rector said that it will be checked by fingerprints in a new academic year. So the time spent to check their attendance will be spent to education. Rector also has talked about the combining 10 Departments into 4 performing at the university on the same majors. Adalat Muradov has also emphasized the “UNEC” trademark was registered by the State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents and approved as the university’s patent. He said that UNEC will be known as the trademark of Azerbaijan State University of Economics over the world and in all languages.
