The grant project “Researchers of the Future” implemented by the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) has been successfully completed.
The final report event of the project financed by the UNEC Research Foundation and implemented by the UNEC Empirical Research Centre was attended by the university administration, the academic staff, as well as the corresponding member of ANAS, a well-known scientist, the president of the “Zadeh Heritage and Artificial Intelligence” Association, Professor Rafik Aliyev.
The Rector Professor Adalat Muradov spoke about the work done and stimulating measures related to scientific activity at UNEC: “For the first time, two years ago, we implemented a grant project at the expense of the internal funds of the university in order to finance scientific activity at UNEC on the basis of projects. The results suggest that it is possible to achieve great success by applying this model.”
Giving information about the project “Researchers of the Future”, the rector spoke about the goals set in this direction. He pointed out that the project was implemented in order to form an institute for training young scientists at UNEC, to increase the interest of young people in science, to inculcate in them the ability to conduct research and write articles in prestigious scientific journals.
Then, the head of UNEC Empirical Research Center (ERC), associate professor Khatai Aliyev, gave a report on the work done within the framework of the grant project. He said that in the project, 19 students conducted research on relevant topics covering various directions. The program and evaluation criteria of the project were prepared by Nijat Muradzadeh, who studied for a PhD at the University of Glasgow, Great Britain, with a letter of approval from UNEC within the framework of the state program. Mentoring support was also provided to students within the project.
Professor Rafiq Aliyev, a well-known scientist who participated in the event, highly appreciated the work done to increase scientific activity at UNEC: “Although I participated in scientific events held at the University of Economics many years ago, in those days, discussions about the publication of scientific articles on databases such as Web of Science and Scopus I have not witnessed it. I am very pleased with the work done in this direction at UNEC in recent years and the results achieved.” Professor Rafiq Aliyev gave recommendations to young people regarding scientific activities, as well as shared his views on the clustering model of science.
After the speeches, proposals were voiced about differentiating Bs, Ms and PhD education from others (BBA, MBA and DBA) aimed at shaping the future scientific potential, providing a transition between BSc, Ms and PhD, transitioning to competitive financing of scientific projects, implementing a special support program for young researchers.
At the end, certificates were presented to the students who successfully completed the project.
