Code of Ethical Conduct for Students of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC)
Upon registration at UNEC, all students pledge to adhere to the following ethical values and principles in both real and virtual environments:
- Respect for Freedom of Expression: Demonstrating respect for others’ rights to express their thoughts and opinions.
- Non-Discrimination and Respect for Diversity: Treating everyone with respect, without discrimination, and refraining from actions that undermine the honor and dignity of others. Showing courtesy to faculty, administrative staff, and fellow students.
- Prohibition of Violence and Abuse: Avoiding any form of verbal or physical violence or offensive behavior.
- Confidentiality: Not accessing or disseminating others’ academic or personal information without their consent.
- Environmental Responsibility: Maintaining a clean and sustainable campus environment by avoiding harm to nature, reducing noise and visual pollution, and using limited resources efficiently.
- Academic Commitment: Attending classes and exams regularly and fulfilling assignments, independent work, and reports on time.
- Monitoring Academic Progress: Keeping track of grades and academic performance consistently.
- Awareness of Academic Calendar and Regulations: Understanding and adhering to academic rules and schedules.
- Academic Integrity:
- Ensuring that all evaluations are based on one’s own intellectual efforts and avoiding plagiarism or unauthorized use of others’ ideas or work.
- Providing proper citations for any published or unpublished sources used in academic work.
- Not presenting another’s research as one’s own or engaging others to conduct research on one’s behalf.
- Avoiding cheating during exams and not assisting others in doing so.
- Refraining from falsifying any documents, electronic or otherwise, in favor of oneself or others.
- Fair Competition: Avoiding and not supporting actions that lead to unfair competition.
- Use of Knowledge for Humanity: Committing to using acquired knowledge and skills for the benefit of humanity.
- Punctuality: Arriving on time for scheduled meetings.
- Notification of Absences: Informing relevant parties in advance if unable to attend events or meetings.
- Active Participation in Elections: Taking an active part in electoral processes within elected structures.
- Responsibility for Personal Information: Ensuring the accuracy and honesty of personal information and taking necessary actions to update it.
