Rafig Shahniyar oghlu Verdiyev
Born in 1958 in the village of Goyalli, Gadabay district. In 1965, he began his education at the Goyalli village 8-year school, later transferring to the 9th grade of the Chayrasullu village secondary school in 1973. He graduated from the 10th grade of this school with distinction in 1975.
From 1976 to 1978, he served in the military. In 1979, he was admitted to the part-time department of the Mathematics Faculty of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical Institute (now the Azerbaijan Pedagogical University), successfully completing his studies in 1984. In 1979, he joined the Fire Protection Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs as a firefighter.
Between 1991 and 1992, he served as an inspector for personnel affairs in the 3rd Paramilitary Fire Protection Unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In 1993, he was appointed deputy chief for personnel affairs in the 39th Independent Paramilitary Fire Protection Unit. From 1993 to 1995, he served as an engineer and later as a senior engineer in the State Fire Control Department of the Main State Fire Safety Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In 1996, he became a senior lecturer-methodologist at the Baku Fire-Technical School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. From 1997 to 2012, he served as the head of the school’s academic department.

In 2005, the Baku Fire-Technical School was transferred to the Ministry of Emergency Situations and renamed the Fire Technical College. By the decree of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated October 7, 2004, No. 2126/sh, he was awarded the title of “Best Employee of the State Fire Safety Service.” Additionally, by the decree of the Ministry of Emergency Situations dated December 15, 2010, No. 2920/sh, he was awarded the “Service Badge” of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. In 2012, he retired in accordance with the regulations on service in the Ministry of Emergency Situations and holds the rank of reserve lieutenant colonel.
In 2013, he commenced his teaching duties on an hourly basis at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC). Since 2014, he has held a full-time academic position in the Department of Civil Defense. Currently, he serves as a lecturer in Civil Defense within the Department of Humanities at UNEC.
He is married and has two children.
