ABOUT US:

“The Sustainable Development and Green Economy Center named after Nizami Ganjavi” was established to ensure the implementation of the decision of the Scientific Council of UNEC N176 dated 16 June 2021.

The decision dated 28 September 2021 has appointed Gulnar Mirzayeva İsmayil, the lecturer of the “Economics and Business Faculty” as the Executive Director of the “The Sustainable Development and Green Economy Center named after Nizami Ganjavi”, which will operate within the UNEC International Center for Graduate Education.

Centre consists of executive director of the Centre, Supervisory Board and researchers. Supervisory Board consists of representatives of public, private, academia and NGOs.

The Centre has five main goals in the fields of sustainable development and green economy: The goals are the following.

1. Development of human capital;

2. Strengthening of research capacity;

3. Promotion of cooperation between business and academia for contribution to research and development, innovations and inventions;

4. Development of public-private-universities-academia-NGOs partnership;

5. Contribution to public awareness on sustainable development and green economy.

Baku RECP (Resource Efficiency and Clean Production) Club was established in the Centre. Baku RECP Club involves 10 Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), for which it provides practical RECP support.

• Around 200 panellists including UNEP and other UN agencies, academicians, major practitioners and stakeholders from all over the country
