Significant Decisions were made by the Academic Board
The Academic Board of Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) held the first session of the new academic year. Information about the totals of the summer exam session and the results of student admission were delivered and broad discussions with the aim of improving the quality of education were made and decisions were made.
The secretary in charge of the document admission Habib Veliyev, the Director of Master Center Gabil Manafov and the Director of UNEC Business School Nazim Hajiyev delivered the information about the results of the student admission (undergraduate, graduate and MBA) to the first course of full- time and part-time departments in 2016/2017 academic year. The secretary in charge of the document admission Habib Veliyev noted the admission plan of UNEC in a new academic year was fulfilled 97 percent. He also pointed that a serious increase in the number of the students chosen UNEC with high score was recorded in compare with the previous years. 291 students collecting 600 and higher have chosen UNEC. This figure was 49 in 2013, 92 in 2014 and 103 in 2015. Among those who were admitted to the first course this year 1 student collected 700 points, 12 students 680 and further 59 students 650 and more.
Speaking about the results of the student admission to Graduate Program, the Center Director Gabil Manafov conducted a comparative analysis. He said significant grows in the number and quality of the student admission was recorded in the new academic year. Head of the Center explained it with remedial measures held to inform the public in a timely manner. He said the new standards were applied at this level of education in the new academic year. As a result, improvements are expected in the admission to graduate level. G.Mammadov made proposals in connection with the improvement of the quality of education.
The Director of UNEC Business School Nazim Hajiyev informed that the decrease was recorded in the number of admitted to MBA. The School Dean explained it with the academic debts of the students. He said despite the decrease in admission, increase in the number of intellectual students chosen MBA was recorded.
Then the Center Director, Assistant Professor Ragif Gasimov delivered extensive information about the totals of the summer exam session of 2015/2016. He said a positive dynamics in quality and comprehension was observed this year.
Advisor to the Rector, Assistant Professor Elshan Baghirzade provided the attendees with the information about the essence of the “UNEC Institute of Secretariat” in detail.
The project became of great interest by the Board Members.
UNEC Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov considered the results of the student admission of 2016/2017 academic year satisfactory. He said although the number of the students chosen our university with high points, there is a decrease in the number of low- score students. Rector explained the growth of the quality with the implementation of promotional activities properly and conducting meetings with the school children.
A.Muradov pointed UNEC is chosen by more intellectual and educated young people. Noting to the realization of 3 interesting projects, he stressed main target of the university should be provision of qualitative teaching. Talking about the projects “Leading Teacher- Leading University” and “quality of Education through the Students’ Eyes”, Rector especially highlighted that the teaching process is open to parents.
A.Muradov instructed the authorized units about the affairs such as assignment of Vice-rectors to all academic buildings, establishment of the high- score students’ club, defining student-mentors in all groups, establishment of the Department “E-University”, arrangement of info tours not only at the schools of the capital but also in the provinces and improvement of the tests seriously.
