Candidate of Geological – Mineralogical Sciences, Associate Professor. Guliyev Rauf Jamil
He was born on May 2, 1949 in Baku.
In 1966 he left Baku secondary school No. 189 (Russian section).
In 1972 he graduated from the physics faculty of Azerbaijan State University.
After graduating from the university, he worked as a laboratory assistant at the department of Electronics.
Since November 1972 he worked as a junior laboratory assistant in the department of Earth Physics at the Institute of Geology of the Academy of Sciences, and then as a junior researcher. Here he studied paleomagnetism and seismology of rocks.
In February 1976, he was invited to the position of Scientific Secretary of the Department of Earth Sciences of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences. He worked here until December 1986.
From December 1986, he worked as a leading engineer and researcher at the Institute of Deep Oil and Gas Fields Problems of the Academy of Sciences of the Az.SSR.
In 1990, he defended his dissertation on “Petro physical properties of terrigenous rock-collectors of deep-immersed oil and gas fields in the South Caspian basin” and received the degree of candidate of geological-mineralogical sciences.
In 1991, he was again transferred to the Office of the Presidium of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences as a senior specialist and assistant to the vice-president.
In 1992, he served as Assistant Secretary of State of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as Vice-President of Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences on a public bases.

In 1992-1997 he held various positions in the Academy of Sciences. From 1997 to 2007 he worked as an assistant to the vice-president of ANAS.
Since 2007, he has worked at UNEC in various positions – Assistant Rector, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor at the Department of “Environmental Protection and Economics”.
At the same time, he was the executive secretary of the “Geoeconomics” journal. He is one of the first teachers who organized Ecological Lyceum in Baku.
He has participated and spoken at international congresses, conferences and forums.
He is the author of 1 monograph, more than 30 articles and theses, has 2 author’s certificates.
At different times he gave lectures on Ecology, environmental problems of road transport, environmental problems of the fuel and energy complex, the basics of industrial production, ecology and nature management. For the first time, he proposed a new type of ecotourism, contrast ecological excursions.
He died in December 2020.
