The First Lady of Lithuania and the delegation led by her were welcomed at UNEC by the minister of Culture Anar Karimov and the rector of the university, Professor Adalat Muradov.
During the visit, First Lady Diana Nausėdienė visited Martyrs’ Memorial Complex of UNEC, Extern Center and Bloomberg Laboratory. The First Lady was briefed on the activities of the Extern Center and Laboratory, as well as UNEC’s educational opportunities, international relations, dual diploma and exchange programs with Lithuanian universities.
Then there was the opening of the auditorium and bas-relief created at UNEC named after Lithuanian writer Vintsas Kreve, who became the first consul in our country in 1909-1920.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the rector Adalat Muradov said he was proud to have Lithuanian First lady Diana Nausėdienė at UNEC. He spoke about Vintsas Kreve’s diplomatic and teaching activities in Azerbaijan, noting that at that time the Lithuanian writer taught in the building where UNEC is located. The rector expressed confidence that the establishment of an auditorium at UNEC on behalf of a well-known Lithuanian writer and diplomat will contribute to friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries in culture, science, education and other fields.
Lithuanian First Lady Diana Nausėdienė expressed satisfaction with the opening of the auditorium named after Vintsas Kreve, who has an important place in the literary history of Lithuania. She praised the establishment of the auditorium named after V. Kreve, in terms of closer acquaintance with the history and culture of both countries, as well as the further development of relations between the two countries. She drew attention to the fact that an auditorium named after the famous Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi had been established at the Lithuanian University of Education (now Vytautas Magnus University) in 2014, and an auditorium named after the Azerbaijani language has been operating at Vilnius University since 2018. Mrs Diana Nausėdienė stressed that V. Kreve’s public activity and literary work are of great value for both Lithuanians and Azerbaijanis, and expressed confidence that the auditorium named after him will be a great source of inspiration for both teachers and students. The First Lady thanked UNEC for implementing the project, the Lithuanian Embassy in Azerbaijan and the author of the memorial plaque, Antanas Žukauskas.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the minister of Culture Anar Karimov spoke about cultural ties between Azerbaijan and Lithuania. He stressed the importance of developing comprehensive relations with Lithuania for both countries.
Then the ribbon in front of the bas-relief was cut and the opening ceremony was carried out. Lithuanian First Lady Diana Nausėdienė and the delegation got acquainted with the auditorium. Rector Adalat Muradov said that teaching at UNEC has been digitized, all auditoriums have been provided with electronic tribunes, and all opportunities have been made at the university to conduct education in electronic, traditional and hybrid forms.
Mrs Diana Nausėdienė praised the educational opportunities at UNEC and stressed the importance of further expanding relations between UNEC and Lithuanian universities.
During the visit, Mrs Diana Nausėdienė also met with students.
