Within the framework of the “EU4Environment” program funded by the European Union, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, and the National Executive Partner of UNIDO, “ACE Group Consultants,” has initiated a project focused on resource efficiency and the promotion of cleaner production methods (RSDTI). The project includes the establishment of RSDTI clubs and the provision of training on clean production techniques in several cities, including Baku, Sumgayit, Ganja, Mingachevir, and the Absheron region, spanning from 2021 to 2022.
Considering that RSDTI is a key area of focus for the Sustainable Development and Green Economy Research Center named after Nizami Ganjavi, a permanent RSDTI club has been established under the center. Within the scope of the project with ACE Group Consultants, 10 industrial companies have become members of the Baku RSDTI club.
Small and medium-sized production enterprises interested in joining the club submitted their applications, and the selection of enterprises was conducted in collaboration with ACE Group Consultants. The primary criterion for selection was that the enterprise is involved in industrial activities, generates specific types of waste, and is suitable for the application of resource efficiency measures. Selected enterprises will receive training on the implementation of the RSDTI methodology, which is planned to consist of six modules. The training sessions on methodology implementation are conducted by specialists selected by ACE Group Consultants. At the conclusion of the training, each participating company will conduct an audit of resource efficiency and their production processes.
The first session of the Baku RSDTI Club, organized by the center in partnership with ACE Group Consultants, was hosted by UNEC. Representatives and organizers from industrial companies that are members of the Baku RSDTI club participated in the meeting. During the meeting, discussions covered the goals and objectives of RSDTI, technical content, and tasks assigned to the representatives of industrial companies.
