The “Thomson Reuters” has held a two-day workshop at Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) with the initiative of the Ministry of Education.
The first seminar was conducted by the Head of Company’s Moscow branch Valentin Bogorov. V.Bogorov has delivered the information about the sufficient usage of the platform “Web of Science”. He said the platform “Web of Science” is essentially the program facility intended to search bibliographic information. V.Bogorov also noted that along with the searching function, the platform gives the opportunity to find the bibliographic information about the intellectual properties, such as the articles, the materials of the international conferences and the books published in prestigious editions. In addition, the platform creates the opportunity to get the number of the citations made to scientific products and the list of these scientific citations made. The platform is considered the most popular facility used in the field of citation metrics.
The opportunities created by the “Web of Science Core Collection” which enables to use more than 55 million printed materials and books edited in the influenced journals have been informed during the workshop conducted by the education expert of Moscow branch of “Thomson Reuters” Margarita Sidorova. She said the information about the different areas of science-natural sciences, humanities, social sciences and art are available in this collection. Links on the subjects determined by the experts are stated in the list of bibliographic.
More efficient ways to use the searching facilities and the usage of the site have been spoken about during the seminar.
The seminar attended by the Heads of the Departments, Doctors of Sciences and Professors has aimed to stimulate the scientific activities and to transfer the university into the research center.
Note that, the modern library which will have access to the world’s prestigious journals, including “Thomson Reuters” is being established at UNEC.
