The UNEC Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov expressed his sense of pride of seeing the internationally renowned, valuable scientist who continued his scientific researches as the citizen of Azerbaijan at UNEC. He noted that, the professor Massoud Afandiyev, the Head of Dynamic Systems Department at Helmholtz Scientific Research Center, located in Munich, Germany, was awarded the international “Humboldt” Award as the only Azerbaijani scientist.
The rector talked about the work done in the direction of transforming the UNEC into a science-research oriented university. Stressing that one of the first targets is to identify experts with potential for research, A. Muradov said that the classification of teachers would be carried out in the new academic year. Referring to the stimulation of scientific activity of the academic-teaching staff, the rector noted that for the first time in Azerbaijan, the Differential Wages System had been introduced at UNEC. Following the introduction of the system, UNEC had gained the award for the most dynamically developing university of the country on “Web of Science” for annual increase of the number of publications in the influential scientific magazines and its successful integration into the global science space. A.Muradov also informed the scientist about the successful grant project realized by UNEC for the world market price forecast of “Azeri Light” oil for the first time in the world by the order of SOCAR.
Professor Massoud Efendiyev, who considered the UNEC the innovative university that contributed greatly to the Azerbaijani science said that he had always been watching and proud of the achievements of this university over the past few years: “The innovative approach of UNEC, its vision is of great importance for every Azerbaijani living abroad, who loves science and education and this is very important for us – the academicians. In my opinion, the UNEC, according to its infrastructure and scientific environment, is one of the most exemplary universities in Azerbaijan”. The scientist noted that, each university is known for its educational level and scientific activity, and he highly appreciated hosting by UNEC the numerous scientific events, including the international conferences with the participation of the well-known Nobel laureate of the Turkish world Aziz Sancar.
The well-known mathematician-scientist shared his experience in carrying out scientific researches, the publication of articles in authoritative scientific journals and preparation of grant projects with the participants of the event. He stressed the importance of expanding ties with authoritative universities, as well as, conducting joint conferences and projects in the formation of a scientific environment.
During the meeting, Professor M.Efendiyev answered the questions the teachers were interested in, and he welcomed the proposal to support the “UNEC-100” Development Strategy regarding the preparation of the plan for the development of science.
The UNEC will be included in the Web of Science database under the chief editorship of the member and the Editor-in-Chief of Editorial Boards of the world’s leading magazines, Massoud Afandiyev and there was reached the agreement to establish the scientific journal on the technical and technological specialties. At the same time, the scientist has also undertaken to provide the scientific supervision for one doctoral student of UNEC studying that subject. M.Efendiyev also noted that, the UNEC teachers will be supported in conducting research in Germany.
