Prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijani and Turkey universities are discussed at UNEC
A meeting of representatives of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Higher Education Council of Turkey has been held at Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC).
The purpose of the meeting was to exchange views on the current relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey in the field of higher education, and to discuss future cooperation.
The rector of UNEC, Professor Adalat Muradov, informed the guests about the university he heads. The rector stressed that the victory in the 44-day war is a joint victory of Azerbaijan and Turkey: “We owe this pride to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani-Turkish unity and our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland.”
The rector noted that the liberation of our lands from occupation opened a new page in the history of Azerbaijan: “We are obliged to open this page in the field of science and education. Joint activities with brotherly Turkey in this direction will be even more successful. To this end, we must further develop cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey in the field of education. We must try not to make these relations one-sided. Azerbaijani students should study in Turkey and Turkish students in Azerbaijan.
Deputy Minister of Education Mukhtar Mammadov said that the last week can be considered the Days of Turkey in Azerbaijan. Holding the TEKNOFEST Azerbaijan Aerospace and Technology Festival in our country is a very positive event. This is a manifestation of the idea of ”One nation, two states” put forward by the great leader Heydar Aliyev. Mukhtar Mammadov noted that the Ministry of Education supports cooperation between Azerbaijani and Turkish universities. Dual diploma programs are being implemented between our universities, cooperation has been established and memorandums have been signed: “More than 20,000 Azerbaijani citizens study at Turkish universities, while Turkish students study in Azerbaijan. We should try not to limit this cooperation to students. Priority should be given to teacher exchange between universities. Joint scientific journals should be published and textbooks should be prepared.
Deputy Chairman of the Turkish Higher Education Council Safa Kapicioglu stressed that academic relations should be developed between the scientific community of Azerbaijan and Turkey.
Rector of Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction Gulchohra Mammadova, Rector of Gazi University Musa Yildiz, Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University Vilayat Valiyev, Rector of Ege University Necdet Budak, Rector of Mingachevir State University Shahin Bayramov, Rector of Sakarya University Fatih Savasan delivered speeches on cooperation between Azerbaijani and Turkish universities spoke about the importance of relations. They expressed their views and suggestions to contribute to the work to be done in this direction.
