Within the framework of the project “Improving Green and Sustainable Economy in Azerbaijan Universities: Renewable Energy and Mitigation of Climate Change – REFRESH” coordinated by the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC), an internship visit to the Swedish Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) took place.
Rauf Mammadov, Head of the Project Management Department of UNEC’s International Cooperation Department, and representatives of MSU, LSU, GSU, SSU and the Azerbaijan University of Technology participated in the visit.
During the five-day practice visit, the delegation was given several events and seminars on various aspects of energy technology, environmental sustainability and higher education at KTH. A discussion session on the importance of Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of COP29 was also organized in the terms mentioned above.
On the first day of the meeting, UNEC employee Rauf Mammadov gave a speech about the activities of the REFRESH project. Then, seminars were held on energy, environment and climate change. The local partner delegation got acquainted with the activities of KTH’s Department of Energy Technologies and sustainable energy engineering laboratories and had the opportunity to observe innovative technologies and sustainable practices in visual form.
In the following days of the visit, presentations on the organization of energy research at KTH were given special attention, especially the Energy Platform. Opportunities for cooperation in energy and climate change were also discussed between the local delegation and KTH. Among the issues discussed were digital tools and technologies in higher education, the livable cities initiative and effective public partnerships.
At the end of the practice visit, a management meeting of the REFRESH project was held. At the meeting, views were exchanged on the next stages of the project and the work to be done.
