The “Eco Festival – 2024” project was held at the Baku Youth Center, organized in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Sabunchu District Executive Power, the Sabunchu District Organization of the “New Azerbaijan Party,” the Baku Youth Center, the UNEC International Center for Graduate Education, and the Nizami Ganjavi Center for Sustainable Development and Green Economy at UNEC.
The project’s goal was to raise awareness among youth about environmental protection, fostering a healthier future, and addressing climate change. As part of the event, attendees explored an exhibition featuring recycled waste materials prepared by “Clean City” JSC.
Following the exhibition, a panel discussion titled “Environment and Youth” was held, with participants from both public and private sectors, as well as academia. Moderated by Mirlazim Dadashov, Project Manager at the UNEC Nizami Ganjavi Center for Sustainable Development and Green Economy, the panel included key speakers such as COP29 Organizing Committee member Shabnam Mammadova, Director of the UNEC Nizami Ganjavi Center for Sustainable Development and Green Economy Gulnar Maharramova, Head of the Environmental Policy Department at the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Farida Alakbarova, Head of the Environmental Protection and Labor Safety Department at “Clean City” JSC Sabuhi Babayev, and young climate activist Yagub Ahmadov. The discussion addressed critical environmental issues and fostered engaging conversations on the topic.
