A conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev is held under the organization of UNEC and Saint Petersburg State University of Economics
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev, an international scientific-practical conference on “Heydar Aliyev’s role in the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia” has been held in Saint Petersburg under the joint organization of UNEC and Saint Petersburg State University of Economics.
The purpose of the conference was to analyse the achievements of the great leader Heydar Aliyev to the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia, including discussing the economic, energy and cultural cooperation projects of the two countries.
The international conference was attended by a delegation led by UNEC Rector Professor Adalat Muradov, state representatives of Russia and Azerbaijan, public figures, representatives of Russian and Azerbaijani communities, researchers and experts.
The rector of St. Petersburg State University of Economics (SPSUE) Prof. Igor Maksimtsev made a speech at the opening of the conference and spoke about the cooperation relations between Azerbaijan and Russia. He emphasized the special role of universities in this mutual cooperation.
Rector prof. Adalat Muradov emphasized that 2023 has been declared “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in Azerbaijan and said that events dedicated to the national leader are being held in different countries of the world. Highlighting the two main points of holding the conference in St. Petersburg, the rector informed the participants that the great leader had got higher education in this city. He also noted that UNEC previously operated as a branch of SPSUE in Baku. Adalat Muradov expressed confidence that the conference will contribute to the development of new cooperation between the two universities.
At the international conference, interesting reports were heard about the large-scale activities and unparalleled services of the great leader Heydar Aliyev. At the plenary session, the report of the Director of the department for Organization and Management of the scientific activity Professor Zahid Mammadov on Heydar Aliyev’s role in the development of strategic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia was received with interest by the participants.
Under the framework of the conference the dialogue of Eurasian cultures, new opportunities for cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan in the fields of education and science, economy and industry, energy and logistics were considered at the round table organized on the theme “Strategic partnership between Russia and Azerbaijan: the role of Heydar Aliyev and new impulses for development”. The director of UNEC School of Design, associate professor Lala Mammadova, and the head of the Department of Applied Economics, associate professor Sevinc Abbasova, spoke about the activities of the faculty and department they represent.
At the conference, an agreement on strategic partnership was signed between the rectors of UNEC and St. Petersburg State University of Economics. According to the document, stimulation of academic exchanges between teachers and students, preparation of joint educational programs, organization of scientific conferences, conducting research and publication of scientific articles are envisaged.
During the visit, the UNEC team visited the memorial plaque of national leader Heydar Aliyev in St. Petersburg, laid flowers in front of it, and paid tribute to the dear memory of the great leader.
