The Academic Board of Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) has held the next session on October 28. The Director of International Relations Department Anar Kazimov made a report on UNEC’s performance in international cooperation. He said a series of significant affairs were done in expanding UNEC’s foreign relations within 2015/2016 academic year: “UNEC’s participation in the raking of the prestigious universities was provided for the first time, important results in the direction of establishing and strengthening ties with higher education institutions of the world’s leading universities, organization of teacher and student mobility were achieved. UNEC was ranked among the best 200 universities of the region being the 4th economy-oriented university of the Developing European and Central Asian University of QS rating agency”.
Mentioning about the new agreements in the fields of international affairs A.Kazimov reminded the contracts signed with the Middle East Technical University, Hajettepe, Gazi, Bilkent and TOBB ETU Universities of Turkey in the second half of 2015. Among the contracts of cooperation signed in 2016 are the University of Seljuk, Geneva School of Business, Gorgud Ata State Gizilorda University and the University of Lanzhou of China.
The Department Director spoke about the dual diploma programs: “Agreement on Dual Diploma has been achieved between UNEC and the University of Montpellier and 5 UNEC students are currently studying at the University of Montpellier within the program. 8 students are studying on the program. 19 students studied on MBA Program signed with the University of Business and International Studies of Switzerland. At the same time, UNEC students are benefitting from the dual diploma program signed with the University of Istanbul.
Agreement on Dual Diploma Graduate Program with the Suleyman Demirel University of Turkey has been developed. The Program will be launched after the Higher Education Board of Turkey approves it. At the same time, Agreement on Dual Diploma MBA Program with the University of Coventry of UK, the most prestigious higher education institution of the world, was achieved.
A.Kazimov provided the participants with the information about the projects implemented, exchange programs, membership to international organizations and bodies and the admission of overseas students. He said that 53 international students have been enrolled at UNEC in 2016/2017 academic year.
The Director of the Department proposed to develop the charter of the student exchange program.
Relevant affairs in the direction of involving research grants to UNEC were proposed to be held within the debates. Report on UNEC’s performance on International cooperation was highly rated and adopted positively.
The Board members were delivered the information about the students who entered UNEC in 2016/2017 academic year granted with the Presidential Scholarship. It was said that for the first time in the history of UNEC 6 students receive the Presidential Scholarship. The Deans were instructed to hold meetings with them one a month and the Marketing and Communication Department was instructed to shoot short films about them. Noting the non- oil export as the priority field in our country, special attention was directed to UNEC’s education export. It was said that UNEC implements education export in 200 thousand US dollars to Greece and Russia. The work in this area was noted to be strengthened.
It was also noted within the Academic Board’s session that the books in French speaking about the Garabagh realities written by UNEC students will be introduced to the library of the University of Montpellier.
The information about the “Winter School” to be organized for the teaching staff was delivered in the session. About 100 teachers will attend the trainings to be held in Guba training, sports and recreation complex of the university. The main topic of the trainings to be conducted by foreign experts will be lectures, testing and development of exam questions.
