The delegation comprised UNEC’s Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, Professor Rovnag Rzayev; Full Member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Academician Adil Garibov; Director of UNEC’s Popularization of Science Research Center, Associate Professor Etibar Aliyev; Head of the “Engineering and Applied Sciences” Department, Associate Professor Tural Naghiyev; and Director of UNEC’s Laboratory Operations Center, Associate Professor Ramil Sadigov. Meetings were convened at Mingachevir State University, the Lyceum specializing in Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Humanities, and Secondary School No. 9 in Mingachevir.
The primary objective of the initiatives is to contribute to the intellectual development and broaden the worldview of the younger generation by fostering the widespread dissemination of scientific knowledge. These efforts aim to inspire interest in science through structured outreach and educational activities.
During the meeting at Mingachevir State University, Acting Rector Uzeyir Zeynalov emphasized the importance of UNEC’s initiative, highlighting the critical role of science popularization in society. He elaborated on the significant progress achieved in recent years by Mingachevir State University in fostering a scientific environment and promoting science.
Professor Rovnag Rzayev, UNEC’s Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, outlined the objectives of the initiatives, stressing the vital role of higher education institutions in promoting science and disseminating scientific knowledge. He called on academic and research institutions to actively engage in efforts to make science more accessible and appealing.
Associate Professor Etibar Aliyev, Director of UNEC’s Popularization of Science Research Center, and Academician Adil Garibov delivered engaging and thought-provoking presentations on the integration of science into society, the challenges facing contemporary science, and potential solutions.
At the schools, the students were provided with insights into the importance of science, advancements in modern technologies, and innovative developments. Professor Rovnag Rzayev and Academician Adil Garibov explained the societal impact of scientific research and its relevance to everyday life. They highlighted the necessity of cultivating an interest in science from early childhood and underscored its pivotal role in the country’s development.
Associate Professor Etibar Aliyev discussed effective strategies for engaging young people in scientific research, sharing compelling examples from various scientific disciplines. Associate Professors Tural Naghiyev and Ramil Sadigov conducted comprehensive presentations on the characteristics of engineering and applied sciences, focusing on innovations and advancements in these fields.
Students and educators participating in the meetings highly commended the initiative, praising the accessible and engaging manner in which science was presented. They emphasized the importance of extending such initiatives to other educational institutions and ensuring their continuation.
