Dr. Nargiz Hajiyeva holds the distinction of being the first Azerbaijani researcher to be selected for this program at the University of Michigan. During the three-month program, she conducted a scientific project focusing on the role of science and education in post-conflict areas, using the case of Karabakh as a primary example. This research was implemented in collaboration with the distinguished Professor John Branch from the University of Michigan.
In addition to her achievements in this capacity, Dr. Hajiyeva was appointed as a researcher at the University of Michigan’s Institute for Women and Gender Studies, where she attained significant success in advancing scholarship in this domain. She also finalized the editorial work on a monograph derived from the findings of her research on Karabakh.
Throughout her fellowship, Dr. Hajiyeva exhibited outstanding professionalism by delivering lectures on “Energy Policy” at the University of Michigan’s School of Political Science, excelling in both teaching and research activities. This accomplishment has significantly contributed to elevating UNEC’s standing in the global academic and educational landscape.
During her tenure in the United States, Dr. Hajiyeva further enhanced her scholarly contributions by strengthening the activities of the UNEC Council of Women Researchers, which she chairs. At her initiative, an international forum was co-organized by the UNEC Council of Women Researchers and the University of Michigan.
The forum convened over 40 distinguished female professors from 25 countries, facilitating extensive discussions on the role of women researchers in science, education, and socio-economic development, as well as the challenges they encounter and emerging opportunities in the field. This forum served as a pivotal platform for fostering international collaborations and promoting the scientific contributions of women researchers.
