Final Conference of the Tempus Project on “Development of the University Administration on International Affairs” coordinated by UNEC has taken place. The representatives of the partner universities took part in the conference.
The Tempus Project is targeted in bringing the positive experience of the leading countries of the European Union in the field of higher education in the partner countries and developing higher education institutions of these countries. UNEC became the winner of the Tempus Program and received a grant from the European Commission as the coordinator.
The objective of the Project is the formation of optimal and flexible mechanism for international relations based on the European experience and national development traditions in the partner universities. It is also aimed at identifying specific mission and creating an atmosphere of international education by attracting multinational student and teacher staffs. It is also targeted in conversion partner universities into the higher education institutions with global links; encourage them to join regional global university networks and to be included in the lists of international ranking.
Final report of the work done in accordance with the actions plan of the project within three years. Current situation in partner universities in international affairs was analyzed.
UNEC Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov spoke about the importance of participation in kind of projects of the European Commission. He especially emphasized the role of the Ministry of Education in the implementation of the project. He expressed the interest in building cooperation with partner universities in other directions too. Highlighting the rising significance of international cooperation for modern universities, Rector brought to attention the latest achievements of UNEC gained in international relations.
Head of the National Erasmus+ Azerbaijan Office Parviz Baghirov talked about the execution of the UNIVIA Project implemented under the coordination of UNEC successfully. He mentioned that the events planned within the project were realized successfully and will make a significant contribution to the development the international cooperation of partner universities.
The representatives of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Yashar Omarov noted that the Ministry always supports the kind of projects. Bringing the significance of the project in terms of access of the universities to the international arena, he highlighted the necessity of participating in the similar projects in the future.
Afterwards, making speeches, the representatives of the Ministries of Education of the Ukraine, Kirgizstan and Tajikistan stressed the significance of the projects like UNIVIA in both development of international cooperation and improvement of national education systems.
Making a speech on behalf of the European partners, the representative of the Warwick University of Great Britain James Kennedy expressed satisfaction in the participation of the project. Bringing to attention the establishment of closer relations with partner universities within the project, J.Kennedy noted that he has observed the development of personnel in these higher education institutions for 3 years.
Vice-rector of UNEC for International Affairs and Programs Shahin Bayramov made a presentation on “Tempus UNIVIA Project: The Model of the Successful International Cooperation”. He spoke about the work done, realized trainings and developed documents. He expressed gratitude to Education Ministers and partner universities for the execution of the Project. He expressed hope that the results of the project will be beneficial for the partner universities and the other higher education institutions as well.
The participants’ questions on the project were responded at the end of the opening conference.
The conference will continue its work in the sessions within two days.
Note that, the partner state bodies of the project are the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Education, Science, Youth and Sports of the Ukraine, the Ministry of Science and Education of Kirgizstan and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The European partner higher education institutions are the Warwick University, the University of Malaga, the University of Santiago de Compostela and the Bologna University. Azerbaijan partners of the Project are the Baku State University, Ganja State University, Nakhchivan State University and Sumgait State University.
The regional partners of the Project are the Kiev National University of Economics, Poltava University of Economics and Trade, the University of Economics of Kirgizstan, the International University of Kirgizstan, the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Services of Tajikistan and the Khujand State University.
