A conference entitled “The role of women in science” is held dedicated to the female rector of UNEC
On the occasion of March 8 – International Women’s Day, a conference dedicated to the memory of the female rector of the university, Bilgeyis Hashimzade, has been held at UNEC called “The Role of Women in Science”.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, UNEC rector Professor Adalat Muradov congratulated the employees on the occasion of the upcoming International Women’s Day and expressed her best wishes. The rector pointed out that the conference was dedicated to Bilgeyis Hashimzadeh, the female rector of the university, and gave a brief look at the life path of Bilgeyis khanum.
Prof. Adalat Muradov spoke about the contributions made by UNEC female employees to the university. Currently, 67 per cent of UNEC employees and 51.6 per cent of those with scientific degrees are women. He pointed out that women employees have a leading role in the scientific activity and management of UNEC.
Then Mahabbat Pashayeva, professor of the “Humanities” department, spoke about the life path of UNEC’s first female rector, Bilgeyis Hashimzade. She made an interesting presentation about her contributions to the university and her services in the direction of the development of science and education.
Associate Professor Elfana Gasimova, head of the “Design” department, spoke about the great importance and attention shown by the country’s President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva to increasing the role of women in the social, economic and cultural life of our country. He said that women have achieved great success in every field, and that our women have made important contributions to the rise and development of our country.
Gasimova also spoke about the scientific achievements of women working at UNEC. She pointed out that the vast majority of employees working at UNEC are women, and many of them have been rewarded high awards by the state for their activities in the field of science and education.
Then, head of the Department of Organization of Scientific Activities of UNEC, head of the Council of Women Researchers, young researcher Nargiz Hajiyeva made a broad presentation about the activities of the council. She said that well-known women scientists from different countries of the world are members of the council and have presented scientific articles at prestigious international conferences.
At the end of the event, flowers and gifts were presented to female employees on the occasion of the holiday.
