On the occasion of Rufat Askerov’s birthday, the leadership and staff of the Faculty of Business and Management, the chairman of the UNEC Student Trade Union Committee and active students visited the grave of the martyr’s mother, Mrs. Aynur. They placed wreaths and flowers in front of the martyr’s grave, commemorating his dear memory.
Faculty dean, associate professor Miraga Ahmadov expressed his gratitude to the mother of the martyr, Aynur Khanum, for raising a heroic son like Rufat, and said that he bows to the spirit of such brave sons. He said that along with the martyrs, their families are dear and valuable to the UNEC team.
M.Ahmadov spoke about the righteous war waged by our victorious army under the leadership of Supreme Commander Ilham Aliyev during the 44-day war, and how it reunited with the eternal and eternal owners of our occupied lands, emphasizing that every inch of our freed land is a heroic chronicle written with the blood and soul of an Azerbaijani soldier. M. Ahmadov said that the memory of the martyrs will always be cherished, and said that appropriate measures are being implemented at UNEC to perpetuate their names.
At the meeting, Aynur shared her memories of her son with the UNEC family and said that Rufat was very kind and caring, loved her homeland and family very much: “Rufat received his secondary education at S. Bahlulzade High School for Foreign Languages, located in Garachuhur settlement. When he graduated from primary school, his picture was put on the school’s honor board because he was an excellent student. Rufat was a pure-hearted, brave, humorous child, and had a very friendly relationship with his schoolmates. He was responsible for his studies, he wanted to enter the university and get a higher education. He was admitted to the Faculty of Business and Management of UNEC in 2015, the year he graduated from school. In June 2020, he successfully passed the state exam, graduated and went to military service. The first soldier bought a notebook for his salary and sent the rest of the money to me. Rufat showed great heroism in the heavy battles for Khojavand, Gubadli, and Fuzuli and dealt heavy blows to the enemy. His last battle was for Shusha on October 25. My son rose to the height of martyrdom in those battles. Rufat left, but he left behind true friends who love him.”
Aghaali Guliyev, a student and close friend of Rufat’s who studied together at UNEC, a veteran of the Second Patriotic War, spoke proudly about his friend: “Rufat was both my fellow student and my brother. We both went to the army at the same time. We could not meet because we served in different regions. I was in a coma when Rufat was martyred. After I recovered, I learned that my friend was martyred. I am proud of him. I always say that I wish I was not a veteran, but a martyr, I would be in heaven with my friends.”
The students said that Rufat Asgarov’s way of fighting and his short life are an example for every young person. They said that Mrs. Aynur was not alone, that each of them was her child and that they would often visit their mothers.
At the meeting, UNEC THIK Chairman Rufat Süleymanli presented the martyr’s mother with an Honorary Decree and a UNEC commemorative gift with the picture of the martyr on it.
Rufat Asgarov, a martyred graduate of UNEC, was posthumously awarded the “For the Motherland”, “For the Liberation of Khojavendin”, “For the Liberation of Fizuli”, and “For the Liberation of Gubadli” medals.
Bina was buried in Martyrs’ Alley.
The Student Scientific Society of UNEC and “UNEC Volunteers” Organization have prepared a video dedicated to Rufat Asgarov, a martyr of the Patriotic War.
