UNEC Students Win International Student Olympiad in Statistics Held in Russia

Students of Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) participated in the International Student Olympiad in Statistics held in Moscow, the capital of Russia.

Representing UNEC as the “StatAnalytics” team, the participants included Leyla Mehdiyeva, a first-year master’s student of the UNEC Business School, and Aghamurad Aghayev and Najiba Tashova, fourth-year students of the Russian School of Economics.

UNEC students successfully completed the tasks of the creative stage of the competition, earning the appreciation of the jury from the very first day. In the test stage, the UNEC team presented a project titled “Azerbaijan and the Great Patriotic War: Statistics and Socio-Economic Changes”, which was highly evaluated by renowned statisticians such as V.N. Salin, S.G. Bichkova, and others. As a result, the UNEC team won in the category of “Best Historical Coverage.”

The UNEC team was supervised by Associate Professor Vusala Teymurova from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
