On April 17 a Blood Donation Campaign on “Donate Blood, Keep Alive!” was been held at UNEC.
UNEC’s academic staff, students and employees participated in the charity action organized on the occasion of the “World Day of Hemophilia”. Each donor of the campaign was introduced a free “check-up” coupon from the clinic “Saghlam Aile” (Healthy Family).
The blood donation is jointly implemented by the Charitable Public Union “LAYF” and Central Blood Bank. Students were informed that the 17th of April was announced the “World Day of Hemophilia” by the World Health Organization and World Federation of Hemophilia. The purpose of the establishment of this day is to attract the attention of international community to the problems of the people with hemophilia who suffer from the hereditary disease related with violation of the process of blood clotting and enhance their knowledge in this regard. Speaking about the reasons of the coincidence of this day with the April 17, it was noted that the day was chosen as a sign of respect to the establisher of the World Federation of Hemophilia Frank Shnaybel’s birthday.
