UNEC will open an Office for the Admission of Students Abroad
The next session of UNEC Academic Board was held on February 28.
UNEC’s Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov announced that a very significant event took place in the governance of Azerbaijan state: “President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, member of the Parliament Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva has been appointed I Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan by the Order of the President of the country. Being the closest companion of the President, Mehriban khanim has special services in strengthening of statehood, science and education, culture, health and development of sports. I am confident that in the future Mehriban khanim will be the biggest supporter of Mr. Ilham Aliyev’s policy and will bring new achievements to our country. On behalf of UNEC family, we wish Mehriban khanim luck and success in this honorable and responsible position.
Director of the Center for Assessment and Management of the Quality of Education, Associate Professor Ragif Gasimov made a report about the results of the winter exam session of 2016/2017 academic year on the undergraduate and graduate levels of education. He said that the department of “Administration of Exams” has been established on the basis of the Department of “Innovation and Telecommunication” of UNEC in a new academic year. Exams were organized in a centralized manner in SABAH Center and International School of Economics. The process of administration of exams and appeals were transferred to faculties. R. Gasimov highlighted that the exams of the Distance, Part-time and Secondary Education Center were conducted on the basis of the new rules. The Center Director made a report about the totals of the winter exam session held at the Zagatala branch and the Financial and Economic College of UNEC.
The Board Members decided to make changes in the structure of UNEC Business Center. Thus, the decision about the establishment of the Department of “Economics and Business Administration” and the exam center was made under the center. In addition, the Department of “Economics” under the Russian School of Economics and the Department of “Economics and Administration” under the International Graduate and Doctorate Center have been made.
A statue about rewarding the title of “UNEC’s Honorary Professor” was adopted within the session. According to the document, the title of the “UNEC’s Honorary Professor” will be awarded leading people in the field of education who made special contributions to the development of highly-skilled personnel and the university’s scientific-pedagogical, teaching database and in the implementation of new technologies. At the same time, permanent employees of the other higher education institutions, specialists who work for the state bodies and the visiting professors of UNEC. The title of “UNEC’s Honorary Professor” could be applied to people who possess the Degrees of Dr. or PhD, with less than15 years of pedagogical experience and printed scientific and methodological works above 70 years old.
Afterwards, the Head of the Department of “Protection and Economy of Labor”, Associate Professo9r Valida Mehdiyeva, an Associate Professor of the Department of Economy and Organization of Labor Elmira Azizova, an Associate Professor of the Department of Finance and Financial Institutions Rafig Bashirov and an Associate Professor of the Department of Economy and Technologies of Information Vagif Ibrahimov were awarded the title of the “UNEC’s Honorary Professor” by the decision of the Academic Board.
It was said that the members of the administrative staff above 70 would receive 6 months’ salary in advance in case if they will leave their posts voluntarily.
Director of the Center for the Administration and Methodological Provision of Teaching Eldar Azadov made a speech with the proposals about the credit system, adaptation of disciplines and improvement of training process. The proposals were adopted after the Board members’ voting.
The decision about the establishment of the Board of Protectors at UNEC was made during the session. It was said that the influential figures in society would represent the board.
It was also suggested to amend the name of the International Relations Department with International Cooperation Department; to adapt the Charter and the Structure of the Department to the priorities in the direction of international cooperation. To found the branches of the department. The proposal was adopted by voting.
The information about the establishment of the Admission Office of UNEC in the countries of Russia and the Ukraine, where Azerbaijanis are populated more densely, was delivered in the session. The Office will provide UNEC with involving Azerbaijani students who live there to the university. Opening of the office in the European countries is also planned in the future.
