Event devoted to the March 31- Azerbaijanis Genocide Day has been held at UNEC.<\/p>\n
Memories of the genocide victims were marked with a minute\u2019s silence within the event attended by the academic and student staffs of UNEC. Vice-rector of UNEC for Students\u2019 Affairs, Associate Professor Saadat Gandilova delivered detailed information about the massacre and expansionist policy against Azerbaijani people implemented by the Armenians. She stressed that the first political and legal assessment to the act of genocide committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis was given by the \u201cDecree about the Genocide of Azerbaijanis\u201d signed by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev on March 26 1998. The decision on the establishment of \u201cGenocide Memorial Complex\u201d in Guba was made by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on December 30 2009.<\/p>\n
Professors of the Department of \u201cHumanitarian disciplines\u201d Hidayat Jafarov and Abbas Seyidov and the Head of the Department \u201cEconomy of Labor\u201d, Professor Tofig Guliyev made speeches about the genocide based on historical facts.<\/p>\n
They highlighted that about 8 thousand of civilians were killed in Shamakhi within March-April of 1918; national monuments, schools, mosques and other buildings were completely destroyed. Sharply criticizing the crimes committed by Armenians, the speakers stressed the importance of the kind of events in educating young people with the spirit of patriotism.<\/p>\n
At the end of the event Mehriban Alakbarzade\u2019s documentary film \u201cOne day of the history or a day\u2019s history\u201d was demonstrated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
