At the results announcement ceremony, Professor Shafa Aliyev, Head of the UNEC Karabakh Economic Research Center, emphasized the primary objective of the competition: to encourage the academic staff, doctoral candidates, master’s students, and undergraduates of the country’s higher education and research institutions to engage in studies related to the economic reconstruction of Karabakh. The competition sought to address ecological challenges and the green world concept, advocate for the sustainable utilization of the region’s natural resources, foster the establishment of green energy infrastructure, and propose solutions to global environmental issues. Professor Aliyev highlighted the relevance of the competition’s research themes, particularly within the context of COP29, and noted the critical focus areas of the submissions. These included the development of alternative energy resources, identification of the fundamental components of a green economy, the structural formation of Karabakh’s green energy and economy sectors, efficient utilization of solar energy, evaluation of water resources, and proposed solutions to regional ecological challenges.
Professor Rovnag Rzayev, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, underscored the significance of the competition, noting the submission of approximately 90 articles from various scientific and higher education institutions as well as research centers nationwide. He further announced that the collection of articles would be compiled into an e-book and made available on UNEC’s electronic platforms.
Member of Parliament Vugar Bayramli, who also participated in the event, commended UNEC for its progressive initiatives in scientific research and highlighted the importance of such competitions in fostering scientific interest among students and young researchers. He remarked that these initiatives provide an invaluable platform for participants to engage with the scientific community and contribute to the restoration of ecological balance in Karabakh as well as the development of a green economy in the region.
The event concluded with the presentation of monetary awards to the top three winners in each category, while certificates of participation were conferred upon all other contributors.
